About Us

Longmont is long overdue for a dedicated news outlet. At The Longmont Brief, that's what we've set out to accomplish. We don't cover Boulder. We don't cover northern Colorado — We cover Longmont, and Longmont alone. From technology to crime, business, economics and events, we are the preeminent source for the top headlines in the city. Our mission is to bring you all of Longmont, in five minutes or less. We strive to inform you quicker and better than anyone else.

Our founder, Matt Entrekin, has spent the last 3 ½ years as a news anchor in Wyoming. In early 2026, he decided it was time to return where it all began, and cover the place he loves. He was born in Colorado in 1997. In 2022, he graduated from Colorado Mesa University with a bachelor's degree in communications, a minor in English, and an associates degree in biology. He's been a published writer since 2016. Now, he's chosen to dedicate the entirety of his time to building and leading The Longmont Brief.

Thank you for choosing Longmont Brief as your source for LoCo’s latest developments and most impactful news.
