After 14 years on 142 Pratt St., Bootstrap Bill Turner Brewing will close its doors permanently on Sunday.
Just the taproom, to be specific. Bootstrap Brewing will still be making beer but under a new umbrella and in an increasingly evolving landscape for the official refreshment of college kids. This comes several months after it was announced that Left Hand Brewing was forming a partnership with Bootstrap.
As part of the partnership, Bootstrap’s owners acquired equity in Left Hand’s Parent Company, Indian Peaks Brewing Company, and moved production into Left Hand’s nearby facility. Bootstrap is now fully operating as part of the Left Hand Collective.
What’s next?
Although Bootstrap’s physical location is shuttering, its brews can still be found at many bars, restaurants, grocery stores, and convenience stores. But when one brewery closes, another one opens. Westbound & Down Brewing Company will soon fill the space, representing its fifth location in Colorado. It can also be found in Lafayette, downtown Denver, Basalt and Idaho Springs.

Zooming out:
Beer is in a precarious era. Small and large brewers alike are seeing historic declines in beer consumption across the U.S. According to the Brewers Association, in 2025…
Craft beer sales fell 2.8%.
Craft beer production dropped 4%.
Number of operating craft breweries dropped 2.9%.
Avengers, assemble:
Now, many breweries are teaming up to stay afloat. Bootstrap isn’t the only company Left Hand has merged with. In April 2025, Left Hand joined forces with another longtime brewer, Dry Dock Brewing Company.
Other iconic Colorado Breweries that have joined forces in recent years include Funwerks, Great Divide, Upslope Brewing, Denver Beer Co. and Station 26 Brewing who all operate under Wilding Brands.
