Ah, the future: Great fodder for Christopher Nolan movies, great for keeping city council busy.
During Tuesday’s (6/2) city council study session, councilmembers will discuss the Council Action Plan. This is a guide that outlines which projects and initiatives will receive highest priority from city council and staff in the next several years. It was created by city staff using answers provided to a survey by councilmembers.
Included on the list:
Complete the 1st and Main transit hub.
Redevelop the sugar factory.
Research Longmont becoming its own county.
Pursue universal childcare.
Other items address housing affordability, fortifying the electric grid, attracting businesses to vacant properties and more
City council will provide feedback on the draft plan and if needed, set aside a half day for additional discussion. No formal action will be taken other than potentially approving the plan, and directing the city manager to return a more detailed document.
Anyone from the public is invited to be heard, but those interested must sign up before the meeting begins. The action begins at 7 p.m. Attend in-person at the Longmont Civic Center’s City Council Chambers or watch via livestream here.
