Serving first-generation students at a high level isn’t a first for Front Range Community College.
The Colorado Department of Higher Education has designated FRCC as a First Generation-Serving Campus for the second year in a row, according to an FRCC press release.
By the numbers:
First-gen students represent:
Nearly half of the 18,000+ student body.
48% of the 2024 graduating class.
In the 2024-25 academic year, over 60% of first-gen students earned an associate’s degree or certificate.
More than 1/3 of those credential completers have successfully transferred to a four-year institution.
How they do it:
FRCC provides first-generation students with wraparound support services through the TRIO program, a federally-funded initiative aimed at supporting low-income individuals, first-generation college students, and individuals with disabilities.
FRCC’s services include:
A success coach
A peer mentor
Interactive workshops covering topics like career exploration
Academic & financial guidance
“TRIO plays a hug part in my success,” Quynh Anh Do, a first-gen student said. “They give me access to education in a way that my parents did not know how to give me.”
FRCC also received national recognition for its support of military students.
