Longmont City Council has another packed agenda on tap for Tuesday night. But don’t worry, data centers aren’t involved.

Councilmembers will continue their pursuit to annex two marijuana establishments: Native Roots at 19 S. Sunset St. and JARS at 250 S. Main St.

The reason?

Money. The City can expect a big boost in revenue if the idea goes the distance. If annexed, Native Roots and JARS will need to collect and remit Longmont’s 3.53% sales tax, the 3% special retail marijuana tax, and the share-back from Colorado’s sales tax. But that cash goes to a worthy cause:

  • 50% is allocated for affordable housing

  • The other 50% goes to mental health services

City council will also discuss changes to the City’s investment strategy and their partnership with the Longmont Downtown Development Authority. The action begins at 7 p.m. in the City Council Chambers at the Civic Center. Watch via livestream here.

Can’t get enough local government? All are invited to the next meeting of the Planning and Zoning Commission on Wednesday at 7 p.m. Attend in-person in city council chambers or watch via livestream here.
