Over 25,000 Longmont voters cast ballots in the 2026 primary election, per Boulder County election data. That’s the highest number the city has recorded since 2020.
By the numbers:
At the conclusion of Tuesday’s primary election, 25,327 Longmont residents turned in their ballots.
That tops Longmont’s voter turnout in 2024 (17,727) and 2022 (22,926).
Longmont’s voter turnout rate was just over 35% while Colorado averaged about 30%.
However…
Boulder recorded over 1,500 more votes than Longmont despite having almost 5,400 fewer registered voters.
Boulder typically out-votes Longmont.
Boulder topped Longmont by over 2,500 votes in 2024, and more than 6,500 votes in 2020. Though Longmont did beat Boulder in 2022 by 400+ ballots.
Longmont’s election results largely aligned with the rest of Colorado, with one exception. In the race to determine the Democratic nominee for Colorado attorney general, Longmont voters put their support behind current Boulder County DA Michael Dougherty, over current Colorado Secretary of State Jena Griswold, who eventually won.
