A new bus route offering service between Longmont and Denver International Airport is poised for final approval.

At RTD’s Operations, Safety and Security Committee meeting Wednesday night, members discussed a series of proposed bus and rail service changes. Among them was the implementation of the Longmont-to-DIA route as well as several new routes and the discontinuation of others.

The changes were recommended to get rid of expensive routes no one used “optimize underperforming services and reallocate resources to support new services…” according to the meeting’s agenda packet.

Route details:

The AL route will be part of RTD’s Skyride bus service, which caters to passengers with luggage. It will…

  • Run hourly and daily beginning in September.

  • Begin as early as 6 a.m. at 8th Ave. and Coffman St.

  • Depart for its last trip at 10 p.m.

  • Include stops at Niwot and Lafayette Park-n-Rides.

Looking ahead:

All service changes still need final approval. The AL route, along with the other recommended changes, will return to committee on July 15 for recommended action. Then on July 28, the item will go before the full board for final consideration and action.
