Roosevelt Park’s makeover is nearly complete and the City of Longmont is hosting a grand opening to celebrate.

Beginning in 2024, the Roosevelt Park Improvement Project is finally reaching fruition and there’s a bevy of improvements to reap.

What’s changed?

  • A new adult fitness course

  • A new playground

  • A host of ADA improvements including two new parking spots

The new playground placates rising safety concerns about the previous playground, which was more 30 years old. The City says it also expands play options and better utilizes the space. The adult fitness course includes eight pieces of equipment to target varying abilities and fitness objectives.

More to come…City officials will also be in attendance to toast the project. In addition to highlighting the new upgrades, Parks representatives will detail future Parks development plans.

The celebration will take place Saturday in the southwest end of the park, west of the Longmont Senior Center at 910 Longs Peak Ave. It begins at 11 a.m. and lasts until 1 p.m.

A 2-year affair. The project began in Spring 2024 when officials initiated the planning process. Following periods of public input, bidding, and design, the project culminated with three months of construction.

Fun fact: According to the City, the park was presumably named for President Theodore Roosevelt after his visit to Longmont in 1900.
