Silver Creek is getting close to gold.
Silver Creek High School has a date with the top team in Colorado after shutting out #8 Lewis-Palmer 2-0 on Wednesday in the second round of the CHSAA 4A soccer state playoffs.
Rough air head:
The Raptors are now on a six-game winning streak, but they’re headed for quite a buzzsaw. Their quarterfinal matchup is against Mullen High School — the #1 ranked school in 4A Colorado and defending state champions.
Mullen has only lost once this season and they’re on a 15-game winning streak.
The Mustangs won their first and second round playoff games by a combined score of 15-0.
The game begins Saturday at 11 am at Mullen High School.
Big picture:
Silver Creek is continuing a heritage of on-the-pitch excellence.
They’ve made it to the 4A state semifinals each of the last two seasons
Only once in the last 15 years have they failed to qualify for the state playoffs (2021).
Silver Creek is yet to win a state championship in soccer in school history.
Saturday also marks an opportunity for payback. It was Mullen who eliminated Silver Creek in the 2024 semifinals by a score of 1-0. Last year, Greeley Central knocked out the Raptors in a shootout.
